It was tight race between 4 original, unpublished versions of deferred “Breeches”. Only 3 votes separated first from last place. There were 130 visitors, 15 of whom voted.
Tied for top spot, with 5 votes, were the late Roy Little’s cute 3x3, Baby Breeches, his 24th contest win and Wilma Wolverton’s subtle 4x4, Stuck Out of Luck, her 2nd win. George Hay and Liam Stephens (Ireland) voted for Baby Breeches. Lloyd Gordon (Canada), Slava Gorin (Russia), and Kathy Wirthwein voted for Stuck Out of Luck.
Third, with 3 votes, was Bill Salot’s 3x3, Back and Forth. Don Myles voted for it. Last, with 2 votes, was Ed Atkinson’s 4x4, Royal Maneuvers.
The International Voters’ Ladder now stands as follows:

Losing "Breeches" are suicidal positions that allow your opponent’s King to move between two of your pieces, stealing one. While considering it elementary, relatively advanced players occasionally allow it to their chagrin. Rarely does hidden play insidiously force opponents into losing "Breeches" but the problems in this contest surprisingly do just that. Help us decide which one is best by voting for it at contests.checkermaven.com. Get on the free Voters’ Ladder by divulging your vote to the e-mail address below the diagrams. Previously, such problems have been the hidden theme in only Contest 33, June 2017.
